News of active exploitation emerged roughly a week ago, but details about the attacks are still not available.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fortra, known until recently as HelpSystems, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.securityweek.com\/goanywhere-mft-users-warned-of-zero-day-exploit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">alerted GoAnywhere MFT<\/a> users on February 1 about a \u2018zero-day remote code injection exploit\u2019. The company has since released two other security notifications, each of them providing mitigations and indicators of compromise (IoCs).<\/p>\n<p>GoAnywhere users are now being informed that a patch has been made available. Users are advised to urgently install GoAnywhere MFT 7.1.2.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParticularly for customers running an admin portal exposed to the Internet, we consider this an urgent matter,\u201d the company said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.securityweek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/GoAnywhere_zero-day.png\" alt=\"GoAnywhere zero-day patch\" class=\"wp-image-32421\" width=\"662\" height=\"344\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.securityweek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/GoAnywhere_zero-day.png 742w, https:\/\/www.securityweek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/GoAnywhere_zero-day-360x187.png 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 662px) 100vw, 662px\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">GoAnywhere zero-day patch<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>There does not appear to be any information about the attacks exploiting the vulnerability. It\u2019s unclear if it has been leveraged by state-sponsored threat actors or profit-driven cybercriminals.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A CVE identifier has yet to be assigned to the flaw.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Users have been told to check log files for a particular line that indicates a system has been targeted in an attack exploiting the zero-day vulnerability. If the log files show signs of compromise, users should check their installation for suspicious administrator users.<\/p>\n<p>A researcher has published technical details on the flaw, as well as a <a href=\"https:\/\/frycos.github.io\/vulns4free\/2023\/02\/06\/goanywhere-forgotten.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A Shodan search shows nearly 1,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/beta.shodan.io\/search?query=http.favicon.hash%3A1484947000\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">internet-exposed instances of GoAnywhere<\/a>.
